Norway's Magnus Moan earned a home win at
the Nordic combined large hill World Cup in Trondheim on Thursday by
making up a 30-second deficit in the cross country portion.
Moan triumphed in a time of 24 minutes 22.9 seconds, winning by 13.3
seconds from Germany's Fabian Riessle. Alessandro Pittin of Italy
took the final podium spot a further 4.9 seconds adrift.
Overall World Cup winner and Olympic champion Eric Frenzel had won
the ski jumping section with a leap of 131 metres but soon faded out
of contention in the cross country and finished nearly 43 seconds
behind the winner.
Moan claimed his 24th career World Cup having started the 10km race
in 10th position.
Later Thursday there is a ski jumping World Cup large hill event in
Trondheim.
